I’m always looking for new healthy snacks to share with my family and friends. Unfortunately many of the snack foods for sale in grocery stores are totally processed and full of junk. But luckily there are endless options for delicious snacks to make at home. These spicy roasted chickpeas are one of my favorites – they are so simple to make and are a crowd-pleaser every time. They seem to perfectly satisfy that crunchy/salty craving that we so often look for in snack food.
Spicy Roasted Chickpeas Ingredients (serves 4):
1 can chickpeas
½ tsp. turmeric
½ tsp. paprika (sweet or smokey)
½ tsp. cayenne (use 1/4 tsp. if making for kids)
½ tsp. salt
Directions (30 minutes):
1. Rinse the chickpeas and toss them with the spices and salt. Spread on a baking sheet and roast at 400 for 30 minutes, or until starting to crisp.
2. Sprinkle with a bit more salt and enjoy hot right out of the oven!
Chickpeas are a wonderful source of clean, plant-based protein. I have to say hummus is my favorite way to eat them, but I also toss them in salads, soups, and stews.
