Sweet & Spicy Roasted Butternut Squash with Prunes

Sweet & Spicy Roasted Butternut Squash with Prunes

While we were in Morocco I got hooked on tagines that were both sweet and spicy.  It is one of the ultimate flavor combinations in my book - comforting and warming with a bit of pizazz.  I've been playing around with ways to recreate those Moroccan flavors at home, and this is one of my best recipes yet. I had prunes on the brain after writing … [Read more...]

The Ultimate Sautéed Kale

The Ultimate Sautéed Kale

Let's all eat more kale!  It is one of the most nutritive foods around - packed with phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, and fiber.  Kale is best knows for its cruciferous vegetable anticancer properties, but it also has high levels of calcium, beta carotene, vitamin K, vitamin C, and lutein. Luckily kale is also absolutely delicious if prepared … [Read more...]

Simple Smoothie Recipes

Simple Smoothie Recipes

It is smoothie season!  That may seem counterintuitive given the freezing temps, but New Year's resolutions about eating more veggies, losing weight, and pumping up nutrients have lots of people reaching for their blenders.  I was recently invited by fellow-blogger, Vyana, to contribute smoothie recipes to her New Year's Seven Day Chakra Cleanse … [Read more...]

Indian Yogurt Chicken

Indian Yogurt Chicken

One of the highlights of my time in Paris has been reconnecting with my old friend, Shaunaq. Shaunaq and I worked together about eight years ago, but haven't been in close touch since he moved to Paris in 2006.  Not only has it been super fun to hang out with him, he's also been our "translator-extraordinaire" and helped tremendously with our visa … [Read more...]

Sweet and Spicy Carrot and Squash Tagine

Sweet and Spicy Carrot and Squash Tagine

There are so many things I like about this dish -- warming spices in mid-winter, anti-inflammatory ingredients, an excuse to use lots of parsley, and getting to say the fabulous word tagine!  I've made this a few times this fall and winter and it gets better each time. Sweet and Spicy Carrot and Squash Tagine Ingredients (serves 4): 1 yellow … [Read more...]

Ceylon Cinnamon

Ceylon Cinnamon

I recently returned from an amazing trip to Costa Rica (hence the lack of blogging the past few weeks).  My mom and I went on a mother/daughter adventure to celebrate her 60th birthday.  We had a wonderful time exploring a new part of the world, testing our bravery on tiny dirt roads and zip lines, seeing incredible wildlife, and relaxing on … [Read more...]

  • Post-Thanksgiving miso broth 👌 Perfect after all the indulgence. Miso broth is one of my favorite healing foods. It’s fabulous for gut health and immunity, plus it tastes so good! Mix a heaping teaspoon into a mug of boiling water and add whatever else you’d like (seaweed, fire cider, leftover veggies etc.). #selfcare #winterhealth #guthealth
  • Annual Thanksgiving Day swim. Obviously I was taking a photo on the beach and not in the water with my crazy cousins and uncles. This photo makes it look warm, but it wasn’t! Probably about 45 degrees with a brisk wind. Crazy, but definitely good for the lymphatic system 🤷‍♀️ #familytradition #freezing
  • Impossible to get everyone to look at the camera at the same time 🤷‍♀️ But such a great family vacation!
  • So much fun visiting the @beautycounter #Boston pop-up today and introducing @meganlevans to one of my favorite clean beauty brands! Be sure to mention my name if you decide to go shop ❤️
